Preschool children love junk food. These tasty treats are the go to snacks in between meals. Unfortunately, they are highly addictive and promote nutrition gaps for any preschool child. Making preschool kids eat nutritious foods can be a challenge but it is essential.
Preschool parents must teach their kids good eating habits. This will not only promote good health, but it will also make sure that the habit of eating right will be carried on as they grow up. This can be a challenge considering a preschool child’s penchant for junk food. It’s natural for them to crave it due to their taste and sugar content, which fuels their hyperactivity. There are ways that preschool parents can stop their child from being a junk food junkie. They can still absorb nutrients and energy from healthy foods, but the trick is, getting your preschool child to eat them.
1.Preschool parents can influence their children to make healthy choices by practicing good eating habits. They are their children’s primary influence. If they make it a habit to eat nutritious food in family meals, preschool children are bound to pick up the behavior.
2.Stock up your refrigerator and pantry with a variety of healthy food choices. The earlier you introduce them to nutritious foods, the earlier they get used to it. This will also ensure that they pick something healthy as a snack. By making fruits and vegetables available to eat, they will be bound to pick it up in the absence of chips.
3.Limit their fast food and junk food consumption. Moderation is always the key. Preschool parents can still let their children eat fast food and junk foods, but not too much and too often.
4.Get your preschool children involved. If they helped prepare something, it is most likely that they are going to eat it. You can also make it fun buy making food preparation creative. You can use cookie cutters to make shapes out of vegetables.
5.Not all Montessori schools serve healthy foods. If they do that’s good, but if they don’t parents can prepare a healthy snack. A sandwich, fresh fruit, along with a juice, makes a good combination.
